Description
The Slip Inn, located in a strip next to a gas station in a rather shady section of McMillan, wins the prize for best gimmicks. And if there were a prize for best-kept secret, it would win that, too. How could anyone have known that this little door with the little sign above it opened to a great big world of music, lounging, and attitude?
It's not just the door; the building is entirely windowless. That was my main reason for apprehension, because it's usually a sign that there are topless women dancing on tables inside. Happily, there were no exotic dancers on my visit. There was, however, a prominently placed DJ spinning tunes that were neither overbearing nor trance-inducing (a hazard of having a DJ in a bar), and did not inhibit flow of conversation. Several large booths occupy the south 'wing' of the bar – only visible by venturing all the way to the back of the main room – and provide plenty of seating for those arriving early in the evening.
